Moore, Robert, tricked to America early 1700's

A difficult "story" to document, but I have information that a Robert Moore may have been tricked by a minister who promised to educate him, but took him instead to Chowan Co, North Carolina by 1730, where he tried to sell him. This was apparently unsuccessful, although I'm not sure why. Robert Moore supposedly ended up in Orange Co, North Carolina, in the area that is today northern Alamance County. Does anyone know of a missing Robert Moore around this time? I have no idea what may have happened to him, whether he married and had a family, but there are lots of Moores of "unknown" origin a little later in the area where he is said to have lived. Any help appreciated.
